6 Ways to Master the Moody, Fall Transition Outfit

When fall comes around, we can’t help but to go all out. In fact, I probably wanted to go all out halfway through the summer… call me basic but I love the fall. Everything is in transition, colors are exploding, cooler temperatures are coming out to play (hopefully), and the more cozy layers the better. Plus, who doesn’t love Halloween? October is just practically perfect in every way, am I right?

It’s basically the feel good month, because all of our senses are stimulated and happy. Add the delicious fall candles to the mix and you have the full package. I can’t help but want to have everything fall themed, so it’s time for the wardrobe to follow suite. Que the rustic colors, vampy accents, and moody vibes! To help get my closet all fall ready and mood-ified, I’ve teamed up with Old Navy to create 6 ways to master the moody, fall transition outfit!

Fade to Black Denim

Whether you are channeling the Rolling Stones and painting it black or sleuthing around in 50 shades of grey, the fall is the perfect time to swap out your overdone blue jeans for a moodier black denim. To be quite honest, that’s exactly what I did with these black cropped flares. Every summer I always find a pair of jeans that I wear to bits. Then my mom gets tired of seeing them and persuades me to buy another pair… crazy I know. That’s how much I loved these jeans! Thankfully Old Navy came in clutch and brought them back in black for the fall. Needless to say, my life is complete.

Velvet Textures

The fall is all about adding texture. Anyway you can add a textured fabric to the mix, your look is instantly more fall festive. I know velvet is a touchy subject for some of you (no pun intended), but I’m a fan. Especially this velvet, floral tee. It’s comfy, easy to throw on and you can have fun with the print! Although, they also come in several solid colors. As fall temperatures begin to creep in, you can easily add or take off layers to remain comfy. Fall transitions at it’s finest!

Quilted Outerwear

Nothing says cozy like a brisk fall night by the fire, cuddled up in a quilted blanket. Am I right? There’s something about quilted pieces that will always remain timeless and comfortable. Take all those feels and find that staple quilted, jacket that will go with everything. That way you’ll always feel all warm and fuzzy inside from the heritage vibes that quilted pieces bring.

Sherpa Anything

When in doubt, sherpa it out. Anything soft and cozy always comes in clutch during the fall. There’s simply something magical about warm and fuzzy pieces of clothing that just can’t really be put into words. It’s like that feeling of getting a fresh haircut. You just feel good! If you find anything sherpa in a half-zip hoodie, never let that baby go!

Layers, Layers, Layers

Everything about fall should ooze layers. You never know what kind of weather is going to be thrown at you, so the more layers the better. Heck, my shoes even have layers! One can never have too many layers. Well, I mean you could, but you get my point. I went from layering the velvet tee and the sherpa hoodie, to the tee and the quilted jacket. The great thing about layering, is that it really allows you to mix and match your wardrobe up constantly. That way you get the most bang for your buck with the pieces you buy. Experiment with the styling of your favorite pieces. I bet you can make a single piece look different throughout the whole season.

The Comfy, Cozy Code

If you feel good, then you exude confidence. If you are confident than the world will vibe off of your positive energy and it was spread like wildfire. The great thing about fall transition pieces is that they almost always check off the cute and the cozy boxes. Who doesn’t want to be cute and cozy at all times? It’s literally the ultimate goal in life to infinitely feel cute and cozy.

Whether you paint it black, cozy it up, or soak up the quilted heritage vibes, you’ve in more ways than one mastered the art of moody, fall transition outfits. This season I hope you channel your fall hype and create some killer fall looks. Before you know it, it’ll be snowing and Christmas. If you recreate this look or utilize any of these styling tactics, be sure to tag me in your creations. Regardless, have fun this fall and go explore as many festivities as you can!
