JACKETS
I am a huge sucker for jackets. Jackets and sweaters I have no will power with. Oh and denim. Possibly graphic tees… You get the picture. I have problems. I’ve found that the best time to wear jackets in the summer is at night! Whether if you’re going out on the town for drinks, posting up at the movie theaters for the night, or singing your heart out at a concert, jackets are always nice to have for any nighttime events. It gets a chilly when the sun goes down, so I’ve been repping this fringe jacket (that is still available at Zara) for almost every nighttime ritual.

Now these can get a little tricky depending on the type of fabric. Luckily, I’ve been buying flowy, striped pants left and right. I have this thing with stripes, because they are my secret weapon for mixing prints. Plus, flowy pants you can wear in the heat regardless. Adds a little breeze to your step, which always feels nice.
If you bought some new denim pants, again you’re all good. Denim comes in clutch in almost every situation. Hence the overalls. Pair them a cute, crop top (or white, eyelet blouse in my case) to make it feel more summertime appropriate. If you have some gosh forsaken heavy fabric like wool or velvet, my go-to solution is to pair it with a white top. Mine is from Zara, and I guarantee you it goes with every single thing in your wardrobe. Try it. Plus, white really caters to any tan.
BOOTS
I’ve been seeing boots all over the place lately. Your number one place to always get away with boots, is a country concert. When in doubt, you can at least make them work for that one event. My best advice for you, is to just embrace the weirdness. I’ve been seeing bloggers styling doc martens for the spring and summer, and I’m obsessed! Pair them with your favorite denim cutoffs and your outfit just became that much more bad @$$. Use your boots more for mood scenarios– feeling a little crazy or risqué, go for the boots.
[ezcol_1half][/ezcol_1half] [ezcol_1half_end][/ezcol_1half_end]SWEATERS
The easiest solution to getting the most out of your sweaters for the spring and summer, is to wear them to work! If you’re a 9-5 hustler working in a freezing office, sweaters are life savers. You can layer them over dresses, just in case you get hot throughout the day. Although, I’ve been seeing cropped, knit sweaters all over the interweb. The chunky knits serve for an awesome beach sweater. It’s kind of like the jacket situation. The beach at night gets pretty cool and windy. Nothing feels better than that shorts and sweater life on the beach. Not to mention, show me one sweater that would not look cute over a bralette top. It’s just not possible.
HATS
These I’ve found to be a major trend as well. There is no discrimination when it comes to hats. Whatever shape, style, size, or fabric your hats are, they’re Gucci. I think this is really from the works of the western trend. Hats and boots are very on trend to wear right now, because of the western trend. If you throw on your winter felt hat with a floral midi dress, you’re instantly on trend. Plus, the contrasting elements of floral and felt really create an interesting look. Dare to be different, people.
Another great thing that helps you transition your winter hats into the summer, is its color. I’ve been rocking a tan corduroy baker boy hat all spring long. The main reason it works, is the color and it inspiration behind the western trend. Any heavy fabrics really compliment the equestrian vibes, and the tan color brings a little light to the heavy fabric.
When in doubt, it’s all about the styling of your pieces. Think outside the box and pair the boots with some high-waisted denim shorts. Use your sweaters as a beach cover-up while you’re on vacation. Cater towards the popularity of the western trends to get use out of those heavy fabric pieces. Take your jackets out for a night on the town, and I bet you anything you’ll be thankful you brought it.
I hope your coffee cup is now half full, and you’re feeling better about all your compulsive spring shopping. Believe me, I think I had to create this post for myself to make me feel better about life… (opps). Here’s to rolling with the punches and thinking outside the box this season! I hope you learned a little something new with this post, and I hope it helped you infuse your spring pieces into your summer wardrobe.
