A Weekend in Nashville for the Hard-Core Instagrammers

As a blogger and content creator, every once in awhile I get into creative funks. It’s inevitable, but every artist and creative goes through it. I’ve found the best way for me to get out of them is to do something drastic– and travel! Where else to revive your creative juices than to travel to a city thats bursting with music and art. That’s right, we went to Nashville!

Everywhere you turn, you hear music. Everywhere you look, you see art. It’s next to impossible not be inspired. With that in mind, I wanted to create you a guide that you could realistically accomplish during your weekend trip. Therefore, I didn’t provide you a master plan of the entire city. Although, another travel guide is coming your way that will be more along the lines of that. Today, this post is dedicated to the dreamers, the doers, and the creators. I’m rounding up some of the best places in Nashville to fuel their creativity for the hard-core Instragrammers!

P.S. I’ve made this Nashville travel guide super easy to use for all my instagrammers. All you have to do is click on the location and address and it brings you straight to the location in Google Maps! Don’t worry, I got you.

Soda Window

Church St., Nashville, TN 37201

(across from Piranha’s Bar & Grill parking lot)

Time to pick your poison. This location is not your average place to shoot, but I think it’s even better. For all those retro vibes, this little window adds a different flare to your picture than a mural does. You can hit this location, Printer’s Alley, Arcade Alley, and Piranha’s Bar & Grill Mural all within 20 minutes (including shooting time).

Printers Alley

Church St., Nashville, TN 37201

If you are looking for a spot to get the city feels of downtown Nashville, Printer’s Alley is a great place to snag a shot. The street sign adds a fun pop to any picture.

Arcade Alley

Church St., Nashville, TN 37201

Nostalgia at it’s finest. This gift shop window was giving me all the retro feels, which made for a fun location. You can cut through arcade alley to get to any of these past locations. Plus, it’s a great place to cool off. Que the shade and fans! There’s even a wall right next to this, that has a coke bottle that you could kill two birds with one stone with.

Piranha’s Bar & Grill Wall

174 3rd Ave N, Nashville, TN 37201

To be honest, this might be one of my favorite walls. Wherever you shoot on this wall, you get a different background. Plus, these colors really speak for themselves. Not really sure why I don’t see anyone taking pictures with this wall.

Downtown Antique Mall

612 8th Ave S, Nashville, TN 37203

If you are looking to shop around for something authentically Nashville, you can also snag a shot outside the front of the Downtown Antique Mall. This would be a great option if you are with other people who aren’t on your level of instagramming. That way you can multitask here!

Stay Tuned Mural

East Nashville: 625 Main St

Here is the ever famous striped wall! Yes it’s overshot, but for a good reason. I think we got a total of three minutes in though, before a group of girls came up to steal the mural. Dang you bachelorette parties! I would 100% keep in mind some other walls that are close by. You never know who’s going to be there, or how many cars are going to be parked in front of your “canvas”.

East Nashville Mural

600 Main St, Nashville, TN 37206

Sometimes you just need a black and white wall to really get your creative juices flowing with your outfit. The great thing about this wall is that theres quite a few locations throughout Nashville. The other one main one is located at Eastland & Gallatin and is white & grey instead of grey & white.

If you’ve been following along on Instagram, you know the back story behind this wall. Long story short, we had a limo full of “woohoo girl” pour out at this location within two seconds of shooting. I’m pretty camera shy, so I wasn’t about to have an obnoxious audience… so we got a little creative.

Spot Free Rinse Car Wash

604 Main St., Nashville, TN 37206

I’m sure you’re all confused by this one. Sometimes you gotta work with what you got, and the next best thing that was next to the East Nashville Mural was this car wash! While we were waiting for the limo of “woohoo girls” to finish up, we decided to shoot some pictures here. I find that shoots that are more spontaneous, always turn out the best. Moral of the story is, don’t be scared to try something a little outside the box. Play the hand of cards you were dealt, and take some pictures in the car wash!

The Dog Spot

1004 Gallatin Ave, Nashville, TN 37206

You can never have too many black and white walls, right? It gives you the opportunity to really be wild with your outfit. If you drive a little bit further down the road from the East Nashville wall, you’ll find this mural and the next one that I’m about to mention.

Friendly Arctic Printing and Design

1045 Granada Ave, Nashville, TN 37206

I’m honestly obsessed with this wall. Makes me feel like a kid, with all the Nickelodeon colors going on. The great thing about this wall, is that it wasn’t the same design all the way across. Basically you could divide up this wall to look like three different locations. Sneaky right? Plus, you can stop right next door at the the Urban Juicer to fuel your hangriness. Exhibit A.

The Gulch

Corner of 11th and Laurel (parking lot across from Milk & Honey)

Last but not least, the green monochromatic mural! There’s also another super colorful and abstract wall right next to it. We were going to stop there, but 52 photoshoots later we were kind of done. Pathetic, I know – considering it was literally right next door. I just couldn’t change clothes one more time… We chose this one though, because we hadn’t seen anything else like it in Nashville. Everything is very multicolored, or black & white. Nothing was monochromatic, and you know how much I love all things monochromatic. Plus, I got to show off my new shirt and shoes that I had just got from Two Old Hippies!

And there you have it! These are all my recommendations of places to really fuel your creative juices in Nashville. I was able to get to all of these in a matter of two days, plus I have a whole second blog post coming to you soon. The only main problem was not knowing if cars where going to be in front of the walls. There were quite a few places that I was dying to shoot at, but wasn’t going to wait hours for these cars to move.

If you are looking for some back up walls to shoot at throughout Nashville, here’s a list of some of the ones I would have liked to get. P.S. I didn’t include any from 12 South, because it’s kind of out of the way. To get the most content our of our weekend, we opted out of it.

What an absolutely adorable and hands down guide to the best IG spots and why not blog shoot locations in Nashville. I also love how upfront you are about it and hopefully people realize how much trouble there actually is behind just one single picture, not to mention 52 of them… Looking forward to visit Nashville one day as well as your next travel guide there!
