Multi-Tasking Spring Style | One Skirt, Three Ways

For a girl on the go, multi-tasking is my wardrobe’s mission statement. Pieces aren’t accepted into my closet, unless I can figure out how to style them in multiple ways (for multiple seasons). It’s just practical! Yes, I come across those amazing statement pieces that I just have to have, but they are always capable of pairing with at least three other pieces in my wardrobe.

I like to make it a goal in life to not wear the same look very often, because styling is an art – there are always new ways to utilize older pieces. I’m not saying to never wear the same dress more than once, because that would defeat the purpose of this entire blog post. What I am saying is to take the time to exercise your creativity and really challenge your styling techniques – think outside the box. With that being said, I’m sharing how to style one printed skirt three different ways for spring!

When it comes to printed skirts, they are the perfect pieces to invest in from season to season. They usually tend to do the heavy lifting, because all eyes are on them. This safari inspired number from & Other Stories is the star of the show that allows the rest of the outfit to come together effortlessly. To turn on it’s fun, multi-tasking charm, you can take this skirt from day to night, real life to vacation.

VACATION VIBES

Let’s be real, we’re both dreaming of our next vacation to escape our everyday lives and explore something new. To cater to those fun, relaxing vibes, I paired it with this crop top from Farm Rio. Its retro sleeves and square neckline are so on par with this spring’s trends. It’s been awhile since I’ve been so obsessed with a single brand and Farm Rio is living all my spring and summer dreams. I highly suggest you check them out – Plus, they are sold on ShopBop.

To keep it casual and low-key, the yellow slides help complement the mix of prints. Solid colors always help break up mobs of pattern. If you’re ever feeling like your look is too much, cool it down with some solids. That goes for this Studio 33 bag, as well. Told you I’m obsessed with this bag! The tortoise, brown straps really add a fun, tiki vibe to any look. Brown is the new black this spring!

WESTERN INSPO

Tis the season to rock western! If you kept up with the Coachella trends from this year, I noticed two themes – rainbow bright lights and all things western. I’m sure you’re a little apprehensive to rock anything western with a safari skirt, but these white cowboy boots really go with just about anything. I dare you to find something they don’t pair well with.

To follow that theme, a button down is the perfect piece to bridge the gap between the boots and the straw hat. It’s just one of those pieces where you can wear it multiple ways, whether you’re headed to work or grabbing drinks with some friends. Definitely a wild combo, but that’s what we’re going for! To help bring back the safari vibes from the skirt, consider topping off the look with some straw accessories.

BUSINESS CASUAL CHIC

For those of you who don’t know, I work a 9-5 job (possibly like you) sitting at a desk. Granted I can wear business causal looks, but that’s what I’m wearing every day of the week. To really get the most out of this skirt, I paired it with a blush sweater and some white loafers for the office. The amount of times I’ve worn these white loafers kills me. They are the best (and sometimes only) shoes I wear to work, because they are comfy and go with everything. Plus, nothing says timeless quite like loafers do.

Which is the perfect Segway to reveal my secret weapon for this look – the trench coat. As your friend, always add the trench coat. Instantly, it takes your look from plain ole casual to business casual chic. It’s a piece that’s worth investing in, because you will use it for years to come – it’ll never go out of style. Not to mention, the structure of the jacket adds that perfect punch of sophistication to the point where you could wear PJs underneath. I’m not saying to do that, but you 100% could and would still look put together.

Take this post as a reminder to not be scared of the printed pieces, as they will serve you more than you think. In fact, they’ll do most of the styling work for you! Make it your mission in to diversify your pieces and to have them serve multiple purposes in your closet’s life. Nothing makes your wallet happier than versatility – well that and the lottery. Let me know what your favorite look was!
