Top 5 Summer Accessory Trends to Try Out This Season

When it comes to summer, less is more for most things. The least amount of fabric on your body the better, am I right? Therefore, I usually like to invest my money in summer accessories. From hats and sunglasses, to bags and sandals, I know I’m going to get the most bang for my buck. You can wear the same tank and cut off shorts everyday, but the way you style them with your accessories is really what transforms the outfit. In that case, the more creative we can get with accessories the better. Today I’m highlighting the top 5 summer accessory trends happening this season, and how to get the most use out of your festive pieces.

Straw Hats

Let’s start from the top, shall we. I’m a huge fan of hats, and I tend to get way too many each season. To be honest, I think that hats are almost as important to finishing a look as shoes are. I know that’s a bold statement, but hear me out. When it comes to summer, hats are such a fun and lazy way to pull an outfit together. When you are having one of those bad hair days, throw a hat on! Let’s be real, the weather is so nice out and I’m not about to spend more time inside doing my hair then I need too. When in doubt, throw a hat on.

In particular, this year’s summer hat trend is straw hats – from visors to fedoras, wide brim to rancher hats. The key word is straw.

Retro Sunglasses

This summer accessory trend has been everywhere! From the John Lennon shades to the retro cat eye sunnies, the smaller and more abstract the lenses the better. Minimalist Jewelry

When it comes to jewelry, the main trend summer trend that I’ve been seeing is all things minimal. Usually I’m not a minimal anything, but I’ve really been loving to layer a bunch of dainty, necklaces. It allows me to really customize my jewelry, even though the pieces are so simple. Plus, they are foolproof to go with everything.

As for earrings, I usually don’t get too crazy unless I’m going out. For day to day, I like to keep things simple as well. Textured Bags

I must admit, I’m not usually a bag girl. I wear the same crossbody bag for months. Although, this summer I’ve been pretty good with switching up my bag options. Granted I’ve also been getting a lot of bags, so it’s forcing me to use them… but that’s not the point. Straw bags were THE spring bag trend, but basket bags, and anything with texture has been giving the straw bags a run for their money. Regardless, anything fun and 3d-esque has really been the hot style of bags this summer. Adds a little more dimension to your everyday look.

The Adventure Sandal

I’m an avid explorer/traveler in general, but the summer usually gets a lot more adventurous. I blame the weather, but I’m not mad about it! With that being said, I’ve really been gravitating towards cute but comfy shoes to explore in. Söfft has been a major brand contender for my summer shoe collection. They are exactly what they say they are and really cater towards your comfort, all the while being stylish. Needless to say, I’ve been wearing these metallic sandals with everything.

Another recent contender has been Birkenstock. They just came out with a rubber pair this summer, and I can’t get enough of them. Just think of them as a Birkenstock/Croc hybrid.
