A Weekend Without Coachella

Take me down to the Paradise City, because one of these years I’m going. The past two weeks Coachella has been the talk of the universe. With appearances from Ice Cube, Ellie Goulding, James Bay and Guns N’ Roses, Coachella is a music festival that brings out the big guns. Literally… Indio, California has some expectations to live up to. As the top music festival for the fourth year in a row, Coachella earned over $84 million last year. Not only is it an experience of its own, but it brings a whole new phenomenon to the fashion scene. The past couple of years, the music festival style has been the trend to follow and has no plans on stopping any time soon. With the first weekend without Coachella, I figured it was the perfect time to honor the coolest festival to date.

Coachella is the perfect time to release your inner hippie self. It’s the time to go overboard with your jewelry and to imagine your life in the 70s. From flowy fabrics to western inspired styles, Coachella fashion is in a league of its own. They key to looking like you went to Coachella is to mesh an effortless style with the unexpected. Explore your creativity and embrace the boho vibes. The only thing you should be holding back on is the river.  I decided to take the crocheted route and drowned myself in the fabric. Instead of tying a flannel around my waist, I subbed out the flannel for a crocheted top. This added an effortless element to the look, while still being innovative. It even matched my crocheted shorts. With the remainder of the outfit, I kept to the flowy fabrics.

As for the accessories, the more the merrier. This is the one place to load on the jewelry, bring out the hats and to accessorize the living daylights out of your outfit. Chokers are also becoming a huge trend right now that are latching on even after Coachella. I even brought an old 70s trend back, which cues in the moccasins. With fringe being another current trend, I thought it was suitable for the occasion. Accessories that contain tassels are also on the VIP list. This Anthropologie purse worked perfectly in my favor.
