Ode To NYFW | Top 6 Street Style Trends

Happy Valentine’s Day, loves! Time is flying by and so is NYFW. With a day dedicated to love, I figured this was the perfect time to mix in fashion week with my favorite style- street style! I have been keeping updated with the fashions shows and trends for fall/winter this year, but that’s not entirely relevant to us right now. Whereas street style is style happening now! It’s the style that allows you to be crazy and mix pieces you would never think to pair together. From fashion week to fashion week, it is by far my favorite thing to keep up with what all the influencers are wearing. NYFW still has two more days left, but I already have so much inspiration from the trends that have already been showcased this week! With that being said, I decided to come up with my own interpretation and a list of the top 6 street style fashion trends that I’m loving this year!

Retro Booties

You know I was stoked to see everyone rocking the retro booties! I wear my Topshop ones non-stop and I’m so stoked to see how much everyone else loves them too. The white patent and the silver metallic shades seem to be the most popular, but I have spotted a couple red pairs and even some fun patterned ones. From a pair of jeans to a slip dress to a jumpsuit, I’m not lying when I say they literally go with everything. Aimee Song from the blog Song of Style even pairs hers with a graphic sweatshirt. If you don’t believe me, then at least believe her!

Statement Coats

Since the blizzard came the first day of fashion week, statement coats were almost everywhere! I paired this amazing Ralph Lauren Denim & Supply dress with a faux-fured collared statement coat. It’s super heavy and perfect for trekking through all of that snow. This Free People statement coat strikes people’s eyes right away, but in a much more subtle way. Instead of blinding them with color, it’s a much more subtle and versatile way to make a statement for the rest of the season. Although, if you have a crazy, colorful jacket, I would totally go for it! It’s the perfect way to jump into Spring, since it is still a bit chilly.

Rounded Rims

The 70s called and they are loving this sunglasses trend! From Ray Ban to Chloé, this rounded frame is perfect to transition into the spring. It really gives off the boho vibe, which is naturally pictured in the warmer seasons. Blair Eadie from the blog Atlantic Pacific, is even rocking a pair. Between the cat-eye and rounded frames, it’s a battle of the decades for the sunglasses trend!

Graphic Content

Athleisure has taken on the fashion world and has completely interrupted it. With it being so common to wear regardless if you are working out or not, influencers were taking this trend very seriously. From graphic sweatshirt to graphic tees, this casual and sporty vibe makes NYFW a complete breeze. Everyone loves to be comfy and stylish, am I right?

Sneakers

Thank the lord for this trend! I am not a heels girl usually, unless they have a thick heel. Nine times out of ten you will see me rocking a pair of vans. Although, I’m super intrigued by this flatform trend. It’s basically a hybrid between a platform heel and a sneaker. Genius right?! I have a pair by Marc Jacobs that I wore in my Super Bowl post, and surprisingly they are super comfy! They feel just like a normal pair of sneakers. Regardless, I’m so glad it’s almost more hip to wear sneakers than heels.

Vinyl

I think this is by far the hardest trend to rock out of all of the one’s I’ve mentioned. Mainly because you are a walking fart machine… I think this trend looks so amazing if the vinyl is good quality. This will help ease the flatulent sounds. It’s honestly like wearing a pair of patent leather shoes, but in clothing form. It adds that amazing shiny punch to your look, which comes off very sporty. It meshes so perfectly with the sneaker trend and the graphic content phenomenon. This trend is on my bucket list to test out, forsure!

NYFW is all about creativity and embracing fashion as an art form. I was so inspired by all the amazing looks and collections that have been displayed this week and wanted to create a look of my own. I was really channeling that picture of Anna Wintour and SJP in the front row at the Calvin Klein show. You know, this one. They are just such chic and luxe ladies in fashion. Although here, they kind of look like bag ladies….  I mean this in the nicest way possible! Driving inspiration from them is the greatest form of flattery. Anyways, what were some of your favorite NYFW street style trends? I hope you have a delightful holiday and are spending it with the people you love.

Everything you shared here is most definitely in style right now! I wish I couldve attended NYFW but I’ll just admire all the photos people share during the week haha. I am so happy sneakers are a trend too! Because theres no way I can wear heels every day, especially to school! I love the casual look of it when paired up with a coat!

Right?! So wish I could have gone. It looked so fun, despite all the snow. Amen to the sneakers, though. So comfy, yet so stylish. Thanks so much, babe.

All of the layering going on in this look is amaaaazing! Love all of the trends you rounded up. I think my faves have to be the retro booties (I have become a total bootie hoarder this year) and the rounded rims!

Oh no, I didn’t get to go. I was creating my own interpretation, because I was so jealous of all the influencers there. Thanks so much, though πŸ™‚

I have to admit, when I read your posts I’m not always sure I could pull off whatever styles you’re wearing because they’re so unique to YOU (which I LOVE btw), but this outfit is definitely up my alley. From the star-print dress to those super fun booties, to the bold lip color and even those great sunnies! I can definitely see myself in this look, and I love that it’s NYFW inspired. So much fun, girlfriend!

I’m so glad this outfit relates more to your own style. I realize my style is a bit out there, but I like to put it all out there and then break it down. Everyone has their own way of finding inspiration and I just want to help with that cause (at least attempt to haha). You always leave the best comments and I really appreciate your feedback, babe.

Ahhh, thanks so much Juliet! I seriously can’t stop wearing them. They go with everything! Hope you have a delightful Valentine’s Day!
