When it comes to khakis, they always remain classic. Men appear to wear them more often than women, but this Spring they are back by popular demand! I will admit, I haven’t worn khakis in a long time. Seems like such an easy concept to grasp, but when I was styling mine I almost forgot how to wear them! Almost… With it being such a major trend for this Spring, I wanted to help you get back on track a little faster than I did (literally). Today I’ll be breaking it down into 3 key parts on how to easily and successfully master how to wear khakis in style this Spring!
1. FIT
Khakis are usually seen as a tailored pant. This Spring though, that’s about to change. For example, these J.Crew khakis (unfortunately I got them last Christmas…) that I’m wearing are much more baggy. Despite this factor, you still need to make sure that the fit of your pants are perfect. Unlike black pants, they will not slim you out as easily. This baggy fit worked perfectly for me, because of the waistband. This allowed for them to cinch in around my waist making it much more flattering. As a result, always make sure that your khakis fit well and aren’t too tight. If they are a baggier, boyfriend style, make sure some element of it is flattering for your body. Which brings me to my next key.
2. STYLE
The easiest way I have discovered wearing khakis is to find something unique about them. This is usually found in the style, whether they are boyfriend like mine, cropped, have a waistband, bootcut, flared etc. This will emphasize khakis as more of a modern pant and it will make your styling that much easier and creative.
For example, the sweatband waistline allows for the pant to remain more causal and laid back. To amp it up a bit, I paired it with this Ann Taylor sweater. You know how I like to mix causal and dressy elements. The cropped length also allows me to show off a pair of booties! I knew that my new Cole Haan brown, wedged booties would match perfectly with this tribal inspired look.
3. SUBSTITUTE
This technique is more directed toward when you are actually styling the pants. Pretend they are a pair of jeans or black pants. Those two types of pants are easy to style and worn on a daily basis (at least for me). This will make it easier to pair pieces together. Once I put this tactic into action, I came up with twenty different options. The khaki color will just add a new twist to your everyday pants. They are just simply a substitute! That’s all!
I hope these three, key points made your transition back to khakis much smoother for the Spring. I promise, you will be seeing much more of them as the season progresses. I hope you find they are a new option to your everyday pants and now you have so many more opportunities for styling! If that’s not a great way to start the weekend, I don’t know what is!

So I know this post was truly about the pants, but I’ve got to say I LOVE that fun tribal scarf! It’s so bright and fun and looks super cozy. As far as the pants go, I feel like Kim Possible would be jealous (and that’s a compliment because she was – is – my favorite cartoon character of all time haha)! Such a great post, boo!
