You never really know where life is going to take you. The places you go to, become apart of you. Whether you are just visiting or living there for a decent amount of time, you still are completely enveloped in the culture. Since my last day at Betty Bridal Atelier Charleston is approaching very quickly, I thought I would take this time to say my farewells to Charleston. I will return eventually, but for now I’m going to Carolina in my mind.
After living here for two months though, I’d like to say I understand how the locals dress. Especially in the summer, most people wear very light and flowy fabrics. The weather is extremely hot with hardly any wind, unless you are going to the beach. Then it’s a wind tunnel! People also gravitate towards whites, neutrals, and pastels. It’s a very preppy town with hardly any black present. Everyone gears more towards the simply chic look, and doesn’t get too crazy with layering and accessories.
Intricate, lace tops are frequently worn throughout town and you can pick from a multitude of options at ASOS. When don’t they have everything you need? They even have an extremely similar version of the skirt I’m wearing, but with a modern, color-blocking detail. No outfit is complete with out effortlessly, wavy hair and a hat. This summer in particular, straw hats are leading in popularity. I found the one I’m wearing from the markets here in Charleston, but I found the cutest one at ASOS… again. In other words, to shop this outfit, hop on over to their website. I promise this isn’t sponsored! HAHA.
An outfit is not complete without a clutch. The M.A.C. bags by Rebecca Minkoff (Morning After Clutch) have proven to be a favorite of mine this summer. This cross body bag is perfect for traveling around town, where ever you might be. It is small enough to not cause annoyance, but still big enough to hold all your stuff. With a bit of history as well, the M.A.C. bags are the purses that put Rebecca Minkoff on the map. With that being said, it just proves that they will never go out of style.
After being named the best city in America for the fourth year in a row by Travel + Leisure, Charleston has become a destination that everyone loves. It’s also a favorite wedding destination! This location is a major destination for weddings to be held at. Boone Hall Plantation is the location to the oldest living trees called the Avenue of the Oaks. If this is not romantic enough, then maybe the fact that The Notebook was filmed here will help. I lucked out being able to tackle the bridal industry in such a wedding-filled city. I’m going to miss this place, but I will just have to travel to Carolina in my mind for the time being.
