Some days it’s nice to look put together and professional, dare I say. Growing up is inevitable so, I guess I have to start accepting the fact. Living in Kentucky, I’ve always been around the preppy atmosphere. The key to looking southern preppy is almost identical to looking professional. The difference is in the color schemes, the silhouettes and the styling. Enough of the stereotypical psychobabble though; Let’s get creative!

In order to accomplish that southern look, pair together lots of pastels, bright colors and prints. Clearly I went for the pastels… sorry not sorry. It adds a crisp element leaving you ready to start the day fresh! Southerners like to make that statement walking in the door. When looking at the silhouette, a southern silhouette is generally either a-line or tubular. You can also mix and match, like I did. Layer your silhouettes for a more interesting and less stereotypical effect. As for styling, it’s best to be minimalistic in approach. Matching necklace and earring sets are ideal. Pearls, huge derby hats, and monogramed anything are the stereotypical southern go-to. Do not give in to peer pressure! Go for the more modern and trendy accessories instead. This is the perfect way to dive into southern, without going completely country club. Powder your nose, paint your toes, line your lips and keep ’em closed. Promise with these tips, even Miranda Lambert will be impressed!
