Sometimes the most comfortable thing in the world is just being home. I mean, you’ve got some good friends that live down the street, family and maybe even a furry companion. Whether you live in the city or a small town, in someway it feels like home. In order to add a slice of home, just simply incorporate it into your outfit. It’s with you at all times throughout the day leaving a feeling of contentment. You’ve got everything you need and nothing that you don’t.
Since, I’m technically from a more southern state, I decided to infuse some warmth and some country into my look. This is where the sweater, the flannel and the boots come from. Flannels are stereotypically a southern piece. To add of piece of my Kentucky home, I chose this particular flannel with a shoulder patch. It’s specifically made for hunters, so that they have more protection when they shoot. I really appreciated how Ralph Lauren translated that in his shirt. The sweater adds to the warmth factor of this outfit, while providing a unique twist. The contrasting prints of the polka dots, the lines in the plaid and the lace all come together effortlessly.
Finally, a girl in Kentucky needs a pair of boots. I went the less obvious way of the cowboy boot and integrated more of a working boot. Add some more fun and throw on another pair of shoelaces. It’s an unexpected twist that amps up your boots. To incorporate my love of the city in, I threw in some glittery shades and some funky jewelry. I may be from Kentucky, but the city will always be apart of my life. Let’s be real, I need a chance to go all out with my lipstick.
Whether you got a piece of land out in the countryside or a loft in a concrete jungle, it’s a piece of you that always provides comfort. Use your wardrobe to mix in those homegrown elements. If you’re from the south, maybe it’s a flannel or a pair of cowboy boots. Maybe if you’re from more up north, it’s the layering of multiple sweaters. Whatever it is that makes you feel at home, add it to your look. You’ll have everything you need and nothing that you don’t.
