Everyone goes crazy for fall. It’s inevitable! It’s the beginning of a new season, and we are all ready for a change in our routine. I know I am! What’s not to be excited about new trends, color schemes, and silhouettes? Fall always gives me a new sense of inspiration, and that’s what people thrive off of for creativity. With that being said, fall fashion can get a bit overwhelming. All I have to say is it’s the worst time of the year for my wallet (next to the holidays). I end up becoming inspired by everything! In order to stay on a more budget friendly path, I’ve put together a list of fall basics that you need for this fall!
This time last year, I did a very similar post. It’s so similar that I accidentally titled the posts exactly the same. Hence, that’s why this is vol. 2… Clearly being overwhelmed by all the amazing fall trends is a reoccurring theme for me. When it comes to the fall, having a solid and versatile base is key to mixing and matching other pieces. It’s one of the few times where I will actually allow myself to be basic. Although, each season has new trends and inspiration. It’s time for an updated version!

1) Overalls
Don’t get me wrong. I will forever and ever love jeans. I would actually be quite happy to live in jeans the rest of my life. Although, this season is extremely inspired by menswear and oversized silhouettes. Naturally, overalls fit the theme more so than a normal pair of jeans. Plus, they instantly elevate and hipsterfy (yes I just made that word up) every outfit. There’s something about the fall that just screams cozy, rustic hipster. I know, I have officially gone crazy. Please comment down below if you feel me. If you haven’t noticed, overalls have significantly become more popular this season. This fall amp up your basic jeans for a staple pair of overalls.
2) Classic Turtleneck Sweater
You know my love for sweaters will never die. What’s the fall without sweater weather? When it comes to quality, staple sweaters, I always go for my Wooden Ships sweaters. This cotton turtleneck in particular is perfect for the weather right now. My favorite way to wear it is for a cooler night out and to layer it under my overalls. Because it is a cotton sweater instead of a knit, it makes it so much lighter and breezier. Therefore, you aren’t sweating your butt off at a bonfire, but your not cold either. The perfect blend for this slightly chilly night weather. If you follow me on Instagram, you also know that I wear it year round. I don’t leave my house, so I might as well stay all nice and cozy while I work! #bloggerlife

3) Mules
I must say, mules are a bit of a newer staple in my wardrobe. I’m usually like to throw on my black Vans Slides, but flat mules have been really growing on me. Sneakers obviously add a sportier vibe to your look, which I’m super comfortable with. In order to switch up my basic slides just a bit, I think mules are the perfect option. Not only are they just as easy to throw on and walk out the door, but they honestly complete the look better. I also dress causally, so sneakers make my outfits even more casual. Mules take your causal outfit, and slightly jazzes it up for a more put together look. I think these white mules totally vibe with the 70s trend that’s so popular right now. Plus, I dare you to find an outfit that they don’t go with. I dare you!
4) Hipster Glasses
Sunglasses will always be necessary, but it’s about that time where the days are getting shorter. Therefore, glasses are logical option. For example, the grandpa glasses have been around the Instagram world and back! I’m telling you, the fall just screams screams cozy, rustic hipster. Just to be a little different, I always like to pair my outfits with my Ray Ban Clubmaster glasses. Mainly because I see better with them… Secondarily, as an accessory. They still have that hipster vibe going, but I’m differentiating myself a bit from the pack. Be an influencer and experiment with different frames!
5) Rustic + Vampy Lipstick
Last but certainly not least, we all need our vampy, rustic lips. The fall is always such inspiring time to play around with different makeup looks. Am I right? Cue the warm, smokey eyes! Our fall staples need that finishing touch to really complete the look, and lipstick is the easiest and most effective way to do this. Instead of going on and on about how useful lipstick is, I figured listing out my top 5 go-to fall lipsticks would be much more helpful. Without further ado:

When it comes to fall fashion, there’s no need to be overwhelmed. Stick to your basics and what you know. As long as you have a nice pair of overalls, a classic turtleneck sweater, mules, hipster glasses, and a festive fall lipstick, your outfit is already coming in clutch. Once you have that perfect base to your fall wardrobe, things will blend together flawlessly. Trendier pieces will be easier so much easier to incorporate. What are your essential fall basics that you can’t live without?
