School is back in session for some of you, and I can already hear the groans. As a post grad, take my advice and stay in school for as long as you can! I know that sounds insane, but the adult life is no fun. I mean, school was fun (minus the actual school part)! That part kind of took over your life. Therefore, I want to be here to make your life super easy. For those days you are just dragging to get anything done but still want to look cute, I got you covered. Today, I’m sharing five back to school essentials for all my lazy girls! It’s okay to be lazy every once in a while, I feel you!
1. Graphic Tees
Life in general is not complete without a handful of graphic tees. Personally, I believe they tell so much about a personality. If you are a freshman or a transfer student looking to make friends, a fun graphic tee is the perfect ice breaker. I promise you someone will comment on it, if they can relate. Let’s take this “Friends” shirt for example. Who doesn’t bond over friends? I mean if you are trying to make friends, might as well rep it too! Plus, a graphic tee goes with literally everything. You can dress down a skirt, or keep it casual in jeans. You can layer it under some overalls, or spice it up with some cute booties. The limit to styling graphic tees does not exist!
2. Sneakers
Going back to school means lots of walking. Especially if you are in college, sneakers are going to be your saving grace. Thankfully, sneakers are also super on trend and I’m totally digging this velcro vibe. I snagged these Vans off of Free People for under $30! In addition, they’re authentic Vans and not a knock off brand! Talk about coming in clutch. Regardless, sneakers are the easiest and comfiest pair of shoes to just throw on. Whenever I was running late to class, you best believe I grabbed the closest pair of sneakers and rolled out!

3. High Waisted “Mom” Jeans
Ever since the “mom” jean scene came to life, I was all about it! My go-to style of jeans are always high-rise. Skinny jeans always used to be my guilty pleasure, but now I’m all for the mom jeans. They are just so much more relaxed and comfortable, which is perfect for back to school. Might as well be comfy while you are sitting in your two hour lecture. Since the retro vibes are super on trend for the fall, these jeans will fit right in. This BDG pair from Urban Outfitters even has the cropped, jogger ankle. If I’m not wearing jeans, 90% off the time I’m wearing joggers. Now, you can look cute and feel comfy all in one!

4. Denim Jacket
This is basically a given, but I just have to mention them. Denim jackets save lives. Not only do they look cool and edgy, but they literally go with everything. Futhermore, classrooms are usually kept pretty cold. As you’re running out the door, grab that denim jacket. It will save you from those back to school blues (and shivers in class). I’ve really been loving the more distressed detailing, so I went with this denim jacket from my Stitch Fix box. It adds more of an edgier and effortless feel to your look.
I would also suggest having at least two of them in different styles (and washes). The oversized style is also very trendy, and by far my favorite. Although, a more cropped or shorter length jacket is perfect for outfits with a higher waistline. Also, a more cropped length is going to look a bit more dressed up than the oversized styles. I would stick to an oversized jacket for the daytime, and a cropped jacket for a night out.

5. Backpack
I was always that girl to carry around a backpack over a big tote bag. Kent State was a pretty big campus, and I was not about to to have one of my shoulders falling off. I always stuck to two strapping it, thanks to 21 Jump Street. To follow along the lines of a graphic tee, I believe that a backpack is the perfect opportunity to really show your style and personality. Therefore, have fun with the backpack style you choose. I went for this Zac Posen bag, but for photoshoot purposes. I personally wouldn’t use this bag to carry my books in, but it’s great to use as a purse. If you are still looking for that perfect bag, check out some of these down below.
Who says that being cute and comfy has to be so complicated? With these five pieces, I know going back to school will be so much easier and relaxed. You can always mix and match these pieces, and you can bring in new pieces to help style them. Regardless, I believe everyone needs these five staple pieces in the school wardrobe. What are some of your essential back to school pieces? Let’s help each other out, and use the comments section as a source for inspiration and suggestions!
