Vintage Challenge | Radisson RED

If you are a lover of vintage, traveling, or all things Cincinnati, then I have a treat for you today! I am so excited to finally announce that I have teamed up with Radisson RED Hotels for a thrifty challenge in support of last month’s theme “The Art of Giving Back” with an emphasis on re-using and re-purposing. The month of December is all about giving with the holidays and nothing feels better than that feeling you get when you find that perfect gift for that someone special in your life. With that in mind, Radisson RED wanted to translate this theme into fashion. Boy did they have a couple tricks up their sleeves. Feel free to check my post and the group’s post on Amplify RED!

For those of you who are unfamiliar, “Radisson RED is a new hotel experience that connects with an ageless millennial mindset through art, music and fashion. Its design is bold, alive and inspirational. It redefines the possible with an open and impeccably designed lifestyle experience. RED’s flexible service concept caters to the DIY attitude of guests and creates a unique guest experience. With RED’s first locations in Brussels and Minneapolis, the brand continues to grow worldwide.”

With the elements of travel and fashion, myself and two other fashion bloggers (Gina from Slightly Flirty and Andrea from The Haute Heel) each from different cities were given the chance to rise to the challenge. RED gave us each $50 to create a completely new look, while still catering to our individual style. However all of the clothing must have been purchased from a thrift/vintage store. Since I’m from Cincinnati, I was really excited to dig into the vintage shops around the city.

In my opinion, the best place in Cincinnati to shop for vintage pieces is Casablanca Vintage; ask Bruno Mars. The owners have collected pieces from the 20s-90s and have the best closet gems that you can easily incorporate into your everyday wardrobe. The unique aspect to the shop is that the owners catalogue which era each of the pieces are from. For example, these shorts are vintage Ralph Lauren from the early 1990s. Not only are these shorts suitable for the warmer seasons, but they can easily be transitioned into the colder months by layering them over tights or OTK socks. Dark floral prints are coming in hot for Fall/Winter 2016, which makes this outfit so on trend. This silk blouse from the 80s is super on point, because it channels that pajama top movement. This top can also be transitioned from season to season through the act of layering.

Clothes Mentor is another great find in Cincinnati to collect reasonably priced designer pieces. There I found this amazing textured, pullover sweater. This is a staple piece in everyone’s wardrobe during these colder months. We all lust over everything snuggly and cozy and this sweater is no exception. Having a staple sweater to layer over everything is a must! As for the shoes, something with a chunky heel is needed to explore the city. I found these retro, block heels and thought they would look amazing with some textured tights or some fun socks.

If you are in the Cincinnati area and looking for some other vintage shops, I wanted to wrap up a couple other places for you all. Keep in mind though, Cincinnati can be very difficult to park in, so I suggest not going at rush hour… and while it’s rain. Just saying. Where do you like shop for vintage? I would love to hear your suggestions, because I’m always on the hunt for some amazing, timeless pieces!

What a fun challenge! I love that the hotel had this brilliant idea, and you did an amazing job running with it! You never cease to amaze me in the many ways you mix textures and patterns. It’s seriously commendable and totally something I haven’t mastered yet haha. I’m taking my cues from you, girlfriend!
