Welcome to the most controversial holiday of the year. Whether you are celebrating with your significant other or a couple of your best friends, this year Valentines Day falls on a weekday! That means, it’s still a day that we all have to hustle and go to work. Instead of making a trip home to do a quick outfit change, I figured it would be a lot more logical to just transition your work OOTD. If you are a hustling girl boss, but still want to make time for some Valentines Day festivities, keep reading!

Have A Solid Base
When transitioning your outfit from day to night, it’s a lot easier if the base of your outfit is versatile. What I mean by this, is that your look is suitable for both the workplace and for a night out. To make it easier on yourself, I would stick to a set. For example, this Ann Taylor 2-piece set. Not only is it appropriate for work, but it’s perfect to go grab some dinner in. Another great option is a pant suit. You really can’t ever go wrong with a pant suit. Ever.
A one-piece look is always super versatile as well. When in doubt, stick to a dress or jumpsuit. Having one piece makes life so much easier. In fact, this look is kind of a 2 in 1 deal. Although it’s two pieces, it looks like one. That way, you can mix and match in the future. Basically, it’s more bang for your buck, and the perfect outfit for almost any #girlboss this Valentines Day.
Its All In The Accessories
Accessories are the key pieces to really changing an outfit. Yes you are still wearing your same base, but the limit does not exist for accessorizing. This is where you can really dress up, or dress down your look. Also, it really gives you the opportunity to style your outfit. Yes, you could be wearing a really killer striped, 2-piece set (*hair flip), but the outfit doesn’t actually start living till you style it. Add your creative flare to your base, and really have fun with it!
I wanted to do something different, and layered some fishnets underneath. With fashion week coming up, I was inspired. Everything is also more fun with some faux fur, so I threw some of that on there. To bring in the street style vibes of the fishnets, I thought these Westward Leaning shades and white, Topshop booties really pulled that style into the look. Finally, I added this Folkster clutch to add some sparkle.
Finish Off The Look With The Perfect Lipstick
For me, I feel naked without lipstick. Is that weird? Maybe it was because I was forced to wear red lipstick for every cheerleading event known to man. By my sophomore year of college, I had found THE PERFECT red lipstick. With over an 8 hour day, full of constant flipping, stunting, eating pizza at half-times, and no re applying, it never budged. Seriously, it’s voodoo. Every since, you won’t find me wearing any other red lipstick other than Ofra Cosmetic’s Atlantic City. It’s forever the number one lipstick in my lineup, but I’ll give you guys a couple other options. I know everyone isn’t a red lipstick girl.
Regardless of how you spend your Valentines Day, do it the #Girlboss way. Do what you love, and love what you do. Take this time to really spend time with your loved ones, and show yourself some love while your at it. It wouldn’t hurt to snag yourself a new lipstick… right? Now don’t work too hard, and I hope you end up doing something fun!
P.S. If you have a minute, please send some love over to the kids Cincinnati Children’s Hospital or whatever city you live in. All you have to do is visit this website and select a Valentine that will be sent personally from you. All we need is love.
