Traveling Blues

Life gets a little crazy sometimes. From my internship in Charleston, SC to my family vacation in St. Martin (Sint Maarten), I was very much on a high. When I came home from vacation, I graduated college two days later. Kent State University provided me with some of the best four years of my life. It was quite a numbing feeling to realize that I won’t be returning, unless I’m visiting for a weekend. In other words, I have been mourning the loss of my college years. As you wade through shadows that live in your heart though, you’ll find the light that leads you home.

After some motivation from my family, I am ready to take Coming in Clutch to the next level! From now on, I will be posting at least twice a week (three times on special occasions). With all my extra circular activities, I have never really had enough time to really knock it out of the park with CIC. This is all about to change though. Sometimes you lose and sometimes you’re shooting broken arrows in the dark. The point is that you see hope in your heart.

Now that all that shenanigans is taken care of, I have a bunch of content to get out to you! Inspired by all the current events, I decided I needed a constant in my life or a must-have piece that I can always count on. I also wanted it to be versatile so, that everyone would need this in their wardrobe. No matter the situation, it goes with everything. For me, it’s this Madewell denim skort! Denim is a necessity in every closet, but this skort is a holy grail piece of mine that is perfect year round!

Spring: Jazz up this denim skort up with some pastels, flowy blouses and some fun tights.

Summer: Pair this holy grail denim piece with a crop top and some tennis shoes for a comfy, casual look.

Transitional: Incorporate this denim piece will a flowy, fall inspired blouse and some cute, block heels. (I found this one at Zara and I have been blown away with how many compliments I’ve received. I found these heels on Haute Look, but I found a bunch of dupes from Steve Madden and Sam Edelman.)

Fall: Layer on the sweaters, scarfs, and plaid shirts for a cozy look. Add a cute pair of booties to pull the look together. You can even throw on some fun socks or opaque tights for those colder days. Having a longer sweater would look so cute with the contrasting lengths.

Winter: I’ve been seeing that as the seasons progress, layering pieces over leggings is going to be on trend. Get a head start and layer your new favorite denim piece over your favorite pair of leggings. To complete the look, add a cute bomber jacket or leather jacket for an edgier vibe.

No matter the season, this skort comes in clutch. It has changed my life and I’m sure everyone is getting annoyed by how often I’m wearing them. They are just so cute and versatile! From the front, they are feminine and classic. From the back, they are comfortable and tomboy-ish. As a whole, you get two completely different outfits, depending on which way you are looking at them. I promise, you need these in your life.
