Started From The Bottom | Why To Get Dressed Shoes First

You all, it’s just been one of those weeks where all hell breaks loose. No matter what you do, everything falls apart. Am I crazy, but doesn’t it always seems to happen right after a vacation? You come back all mellowed out, but jet lagged and BAM! Reality is back and out to get you. It’s an all time low. With that being said, I have the perfect way to attempt to turn your luck around. Since we are already down, why don’t we just start from the bottom. What I mean is, let’s take a stab at getting dressed “shoes first.” There’s no where to go, but up!

Started From The Bottom | Why To Get Dressed Shoes First

I know this sounds like a completely backwards way to get ready in the morning, but it sure does have its perks. Especially relevant, the famous Nina Garcia, Creative Director of Marie Claire, lives life this way! She says “it’s the best place to start if you want to feel confident all day long.” Think about it. It’s the real indicator of your mood for that day. Are you feeling like a total boss lady and ready to conquer the world in some sleek pumps? Maybe your feeling edgy and wanting to channel your inner Rhianna in some leather boots. Regardless, shoes really tell a lot about your personality and style.

With this week being so crazy, I’m wanting a clean slate. I’m in need of something flat, so I can quickly and easily get things done. Although, I also want a pair of shoes that are timeless and universal. As a result, I have found the perfect pair. These Repetto Oxfords are the real deal when it comes to oxfords. These in particular are made in France. Yes the price tag is a bit much, but these shoes will never go out of style. In fact, everyone should have a pair of really good, quality oxfords in their closet. Not only will they be in style for eternity, but the white allows it to go with everything.

In addition, you can wear them to almost every occasion. Dress them up, and you can wear them to work. You can even dress them down (like I did) and pair them with some trendy, embroidered jeans. Mine are from Zara, of course. What’s new? Since stripes are so big right now, I took full advantage of the situation. I got this top from J.Crew a couple years ago, but I linked a few similar ones down below. Furthermore, they follow suit with the oxfords and go with everything! With the weather switching back and forth, I tied a pullover sweater from J.Crew Factory around my waist. That way it adds dimension to the look, while serving a purpose.

To further establish my shoe fetish, they will always fit no matter the catastrophe! If it’s your time of the month and you are feeling bloated, who cares. The shoes still fit! In addition, they are always the first thing delivered to stores from designers that are featured in their latest collection. Basically, they are the freshly baked Krispy Kreme Donuts of the fashion world. If that doesn’t make you feel ahead of the game, then I don’t know what will! In conclusion, try out this new way of life. Nina loves the “shoe first” theory so much that “Marie Claire has created an entire franchise around it.” Do it for Nina!

Loving this post! Such a great way to look at things and try something new! I definitely had a rough week too and may need to try this approach tomorrow to start out fresh on Monday! Obsessed with the embroidery on your jeans! You always look so cute! Hope your week is better than last week.

I’ve never actually heard that before although I’ve watched my fair share of Project Runway, but what Nina Garcia says absolutely makes sense and with this post you proved it in pictures as well as in writing! Tomorrow I’ll look through my 60 pairs of shoes and see what mood I want to be in. šŸ™‚

Hahaha “they are the fresh baked Krispy Kreme donuts of the fashion world” – I love the way you think!! Those oxfords will absolutely always be a classic staple shoe, and I love how you paired them with such a fun outfit! You and I thought alike when it came to stripes and embellished pants! I love those jeans so much. Maybe they’ll be my next “frivolous” purchase šŸ˜‰
