(Sea)mless Transitioning

Alright, I know what you are thinking. Yet another layered, monochromatic look. Well what can I say. It’s kind of my thing. Although, this look has a bit of a twist to it. I know some of us are ready for this Spring weather, and some days we do get a brief preview. This is usually followed by a day of snow or below freezing temperatures, which quickly puts us back into our winter rut. I don’t know about you, but I’m over this shenanigans! Today I wanted to focus on being able to seamlessly transition into the Spring, but still being prepared for the crazy weather. What better way to do it than with a fun, pastel color!

We are going to take this step by step. Starting off with the base outfit, I knew I wanted to incorporate these new, blue Chino pants from Anthropologie. I couldn’t be more in love with these pants and for a couple reasons, I might add! One, they are the perfect pair of relaxed, boyfriend style pants, which are also so trendy right now. Two, they have them in just about every color! I also bought them in a tan, khaki color, which is a little bit more versatile. I had to walk out of the store to stop myself from buying more!

I realize that this blue can be a bit daunting at first and hard to style. The easiest way for me to look at it, was to go for the monochromatic look. It’s super easy and looks effortlessly chic. You can also look at them as a light wash of denim. Obviously they aren’t, but it distracts the mind for a minute for you to be able to style easier. Plus this color is going to look amazing transitioning into Spring!

Furthermore, I really wanted to focus on layering. It’s the easiest way to add dimension, and it allows you to differentiate your outfit more. I layered a basic striped sweater over my favorite brand of chambray shirts, Madewell. If you don’t have a Madewell chambray shirt in your closet, then you need one! It’s such a staple and you will want to have one to throw on throughout the Spring. Plus, their quality can’t be beat. Seriously, they are the perfect transition tops that bring so much versatility throughout the seasons.

The next piece is of course, a denim jacket. Personally, I’m digging the oversized style because it allows you to layer more. I got mine from Topshop and I get so much dang use out of it. When I bought it, my original plan was to put some of my study abroad patches on it. As you can see, I haven’t gotten that far… Anyways, a denim jacket is another must have piece to transition into the Spring. It’s going to be a lot less harsh than your leather jacket. Plus it adds a casual vibe to the look, so you could throw this over a fun dress when it get warmer.

To refrain from becoming too bulky, I though the best way to add some more warmth was through accessories. I don’t know about you, but I think it looks so chic when you tightly wrap a scarf around and have your hair tucked in. You instantly have a new faux haircut, and it just looks so effortlessly cool. I like to do this with my favorite infinity scarf that I got a million years ago, but I linked two similar ones down below if you are interested. If it gets really, really cold, a fun hat always solves your problems. I though it would be fun to pair it with a trapper hat, just to be different. I found a super cute one from ASOS if you wanna become part of the crew.

As for the rest of the accessories, I wanted to stick to the blue and taupe theme. Yet again, I can’t find a piece that I just bought last weekend online. I 100% know that if you actually go to Altar’d State though, they have both the necklace and the earrings that I’m wearing. The necklace pairs perfectly with the beachy vibes going on, and the stud earrings just pull the rest of the look together. As for the purse, the bucket-bag crossbody is coming in hot. I found the cutest Vince Camuto one, that I actually like better than mine. I thought this bag and a pair of  blue, reflective shades from Quay Australia would complete the look perfectly.

As a result, the amount of layering this Winter/Spring is really going to depend on how the weather is. If the day starts off cool, you can easily take off layers. I wanted to show you how to easily transition into the Spring, regardless of the weather and slightly on trend.
