Real Talk: I Have Some Explaining To Do

Hi! Remember me? I realize I took a bit of a lengthy hiatus, and I really apologize for that. My life was undergoing a rebranding and it’s been taking some time to get used to. But I will get into that in just a second. I mainly wanted to get back on the blog and have a life chat with you; some real talk. I want to lay everything out on the table, and really explain what the heck happened. I owe you an explanation, before I jump back into my usual fashion posts. Now, I have some explaining to do…

After a full year of job hunting, I was more discouraged than ever. My gap-year was coming up on a second round, and I was not about to have this go on for another year. I took matters into my own hands, and was attempting to manifest some luck of my own. Over the holidays, I picked up a seasonal position at J.Crew. Hence, the overpopulation of J.Crew clothing. That job became a lot more demanding than I ever thought, and it felt more like a full-time job. Needless to say, I couldn’t get the swing of things with both blogging and working. EPIC FAIL.

“I’m a great believer of luck, and I find the harder I work, the more I have of it.”

-Thomas Jefferson

Thomas Jefferson was always such a wise guy. While I was working at J.Crew, I managed to land a killer job as a Digital Marketing Specialist for an ERP consulting firm in Cincinnati. It’s crazy how much luckier you get the harder you work! From there, my family and I started off the year in Ireland and London. I was going to use this to get a bunch of travel content, but the down time with my family was what the doctor called for. Never fear though, I still have some on the way! It’s just not the mother-load like I usually do when traveling. With that being said, I’m holding myself accountable! This year is going to be the year of consistency, and going to prove it to you!

New Plans For Coming in Clutch

In 2018, I will be posting three times a week in an attempt to apologize for my hiatus. On Mondays and Wednesdays, blog posts will carry on in full force. Starting next week, I also will be starting a new series on the blog. I was very inspired by Blair Eadie (from Atlantic Pacific), and her new Notepad section. She created a new spot on her blog, that is created to be a place to come and quickly grab inspiration amongst your busy days. On Fridays, I want to do a bit of a weekly warm down, before the weekend shenanigans begin! With that being said, here’s what each post will consist of:

A Flashback Friday Moment- Feat. a Past CIC Post
A Fresh, Style Tip
Bargain Shopping- The Best Deal of the Week
Link Love- From a Favorite Piece
Inspirational Mojo- A Creative Quote for the Week

I haven’t quite figured out what I want to call the series yet, but Fridays will be the dedicated day! Who doesn’t love a day to decompress from the week, while simultaneously pumping up for the weekend? It’s basically a win/win situation. If you have any idea on what I should call it, definitely let a girl know!

A new year always brings inspiration. Although at times, you need to “wine down” to really get that inspiration functioning. Thanks so much for sticking around, and I can’t wait to get back into the groove! I really appreciate all the love and support, and hope your 2018 is off to a fantastic start!

I absolutely love raw and real posts like these. It’s when I truly take the time to read every bit rather than just skim another “fashion post” haha (not that I don’t love fashion posts, but I like seeing the person behind the outfit the most)! I’m really glad that you’ve finally found a great job and that you’re getting your life back on track. Here’s to a truly awesome new year for you. I can’t wait to read those Friday posts!
