Opposites Attract

Suddenly things changed and our life was rearranged and every moment goes by so fast. We only have one life and it’s time to not worry about what other people think and to do things for yourself. From a new internship in an industry I never I thought I would work in to living in a new city in the south, I figured it was time to get ballsy. With this in mind, I figured it was also time to pair the opposites together and to focus on the bralettes that have become so popular this summer. Let’s freeze the moment before it’s passed, because to be honest, I really love this outfit…

Normally I am not the person to wear bralettes as a top. It seems so scandalous and inappropriate the way most people wear them. I came to the conclusion that it was just the styling and the neckline that was the issue. When it comes to crop tops, the high necklines prove to be the most socially acceptable as a stand alone piece. As for the styling, pairing a cropped length with a high waistline seems to be the most flattering. The high waistline keeps your gut sucked in and it leaves your most toned piece of your stomach to be revealed. To put it bluntly…

To add another interesting element to the look, I wanting to contrast some fabrics. When it comes to the summer, sheer and lightweight fabrics are the way to go. Especially in the south, I have come to appreciate the power of lightweight fabrics. The skirt, I’m sure is throwing you off. Why wear a thick knit skirt in the summer in the south? Well for one, it’s not very thick at all. Secondly, since it is a skirt, you already get a nice breeze going. The knit fabric at this point seems irrelevant to the scenario. It even adds a cool, contrasting concept to the sheer top over the bralette. As a whole, it brings the whole outfit together, despite the opposite themes. With more skin showing than usual, it also does not bring caution while being worn in the heat. I spy a win/win situation.

Our life is busier these days, we can’t keep track of the memories we make. I suggest we take this time to make memories with our clothing as well. It’s time to do the things we never thought we would do and contrast the fabrics that would never go together. Through the power of fashion, can we slow down time and enjoy the things we did’t know we would enjoy?
