Mr. Blue Sky | Spring’s Most Coveted Color

We all know that saying, “Something old, something new, something borrowed, and something blue.” I realized this is a very popular wedding tradition for the bride. Although, why must it only have one purpose? When it comes to buying clothes, we like to purchase pieces that are versatile and that we can use for multiple seasons. Am I right? This Spring, it seems that the universe is gravitating towards this blue that we speak of in this saying. With the desire for peacefulness and a fresh start, this denim blue color really hits the spot. Not to mention, it exudes versatility! With the weather still remaining a tad chilly, it’s time to bring in the secret weapon! If I do say so myself, I hit the jackpot with Wooden Ships.

Earlier this year, I came across the brand, and I was immediately drawn in by their impeccably well made knits and sweaters. I’d like to classify myself as a sweater connoisseur, with my never ending collection of sweaters. I’m a sucker for a cozy sweater! #sorrynotsorry. Luckily, I got the chance to chat with the designer, Paola Buendía. After hearing about her story and how Wooden Ships came to be, I fell in love with the brand even more. Following a “four-month backpacking trip to Bali, they founded Wooden Ships in 1992, two years after graduation.” Life after college can be a little tough and confusing. Figuring out what you want to do with the rest of your life can be a bit daunting. Paola’s story really resonates with my life right now, and her success with Wooden Ships is giving me the drive to believe in my dreams.

To further elaborate the quality of their sweaters, each sweater is custom made just for you! They believe that no sweater should have to sit on a shelf and wait to be purchased. They are so soft and lightweight (76% acrylic, 12% wool, 12% mohair), which makes them perfect for a Spring/Summer night. In addition, Wooden Ships is based and primarily produced in Bali! Therefore, each piece is inspired by the culture. It’s basically like you’re on a vacation when you’re wearing a Wooden Ships sweater. While all their sweaters are amazing, I was really drawn to this Terry Blue color. As I said earlier, it’s the perfect color to really celebrate and transition into the Spring. Mainly, because it pairs so well with denim. Basically, its BFF is denim. Not Jill. No matter the wash, it always matches impeccably. It’s full proof!

While this sweater is from the Spring 2017 Lightweight Knits collection, they just released a Mother’s Day collection + Earth Day mini collection. For each sweater sold from the Earth Day mini collection, $10 will be donated to the Rainforest Alliance Network. Honestly, I don’t know how they don’t get any cooler… Oh wait, yes I do! Because Paola and I love you all so much, we decided that it would be a cool idea for one of you to win this sweater! At 9:00pm EST today (4/14/17), head over to my Instagram to enter! All you have to do is follow both of us + tag two friends. It’s that simple!

To wrap up, Wooden Ships has the full package. It’s Bali heritage represents something old. With it’s impeccable quality and lightweight knits, it brings something new and improved to the sweater table. While lightweight knits are something borrowed, their impeccable quality is something that can’t be beat. Last but certainly not least, the terry blue color is our something blue. Who says you have to be a bride to follow this tradition? Don’t forget to enter the giveaway, and hopefully you will enjoy Wooden Ships as much as I do!

I share your love for cozy sweaters for sure and what better than a brand like this which not only cares about it’s origins in Bali, but also gives back to the world. The rainforests are and have been under threat for so long and I honestly hope we can save them before it’s too late. I’m glad you’re part of the fight for a great cause with this brand!

Aw, you are a doll, Bryanna! You did such a beautiful job shooting our sweater. Your styling is brilliant as always. And what a lovely post – I am thrilled to hear that our experience has been inspiring for you. We gotta all help each other along the way! Many others advised us, encouraged us… loaned us money when we are broke for so many years! It’s been a long and crazy road but worth every single bit. I still work as hard as ever, although I no longer subsist on cup-of-noodles, but it’s been very rewarding to get to where we are and to be in a place to help others and be able to support causes we believe in. It’s also really rewarding to support other women, working moms, self-starters etc. Glad we crossed paths, sister! Thanks so much for the support! xoxo Paola, designer/co-creater

Oh my goodness, that means so much! I hope that one day I can start my own company just like you. Entrepreneurship has always been something I wanted to do and your story is just so inspiring. I’m so glad I got the opportunity to work with you and thank you for creating my new favorite sweater. I’m in love!

      xoxo Bryanna
