Message in a Bottle

In life there are times when you need to ride the waves and go with the flow. Then there are times when you need to think outside the box and go against the current. Since the 1800s, its been a rule to never wear white after Labor Day… what is with this snobbery? We are in the 21st century people! It’s time to form our own path and create our own rules. So I ask you good people, will you help me send my SOS to the world?

Why do we wear white? Yes, it makes our skin look more tan in the summer and that’s all we ever care about that season. To put it bluntly though, it’s human to look lighter in the colder seasons. The seasons are changing and so are you. Wearing white allows you too present yourself as a clean slate. It’s a new month, so lets start fresh. Plus who doesn’t love a cream sweater and white jeans? Plus, this Banana Republic sweater couldn’t be more on trend with the fringe. You might ask “Why wear white when you’re pale? It washes you out.” The key to not looking washed up on the shore is to add a pop of color and a contrasting piece. Maybe just a hint of bronzer too…

To contrast the beacon of white, I wore these black Dolce Vita booties with a subtle zebra print on the heel. Sleek in the front, party in the back. I also contrasted the outfit with my Aunt’s vintage Louis Vuitton bag. As of now it’s a quarter of a century old. I know, how freakin’ cool. Even though it is December, the months and the weather are not keeping in contact. In order to coordinate the two, why not bring your pop of color through in a hat? This Armani hat I got in Milan is the perfect statement piece to pull the look together. Don’t worry, it came from the outlet. The pop of orange leaves for a little piece of happiness.

No matter the season, white has a purpose. It’s a clean slate of the troubled waters in life. White symbolizes goodness and innocence. People won’t be able to point out you’re wearing white after Labor Day for that reason. Plus, if you look stylish, does it even really matter? I hope that someone gets my message in a bottle. Aka, wear white whenever you want!
