Mesh It Up

Mesh It Up

Sometimes life does not go as planned. You wake up one morning and the crazy weather has got ahold of your immune system (aka, that’s why this post is a day late). Other days, you take the time to prep your outfit for the next day and it completely does not work. I know people like to do this to stay ahead of themselves, but a wise man once said, “We plan, we get there, all hell breaks loose!” That man my friends, is mister Harry James Potter. Over the years, his motto has become my life mantra. Sometimes you just have to play with the cards that you were dealt with and mesh things up. I realize I said mesh, but I’ll explain here in a second.

For this post, I had something else originally planned. I wanted to wear these Levi’s overalls, but the rest of the outfit was just not flowing. Not even close… Due to this “life issue”, I had to start from square one. Before I proceed, this post is not a step-by-step guide to achieving a last minute outfit. Honestly, there isn’t really a formula for that. It’s all based on trial and error. Although, I can offer you some advice; mesh it up! Start throwing pieces together and see if they work. Usually, I like to start with one piece, and I built an outfit around that. In this case, that was these vintage velvet shoes. I found three identical pairs in different colors if you are interested.

The Levi’s overalls were already apart of the original outfit, and it’s like styling denim. It goes with everything. Therefore, I needed a piece to really direct the flow of the outfit. With the sneakers in mind, I instantly remembered my Urban Outfitters mesh, tee. The great thing about mesh is that it can be styled a million different ways. You can wear a tee, like mine, and channel a sporty vibe. You can wear a mesh, collared shirt, like this one, and feature a more preppy look. Furthermore, you rock a mesh blouse, like this one, for a more feminine and flirty outfit. The limit of options does not exist! I’m hard-core predicting mesh to be a huge trend for this spring and summer. Especially, with the athleisure trend being so popular.

My last tip to help you with you last minute wardrobe complications, is to incorporate some color. Most of the time, everyone’s go-to is black and neutrals. Where that is very easy, sometimes it can be very boring. The great thing about color, is that is 100% guaranteed to bring some excitement! In addition, it get’s us amped for the warmer weather. With this crazy, annoying weather going on, color is just what we need. Plus, “Flame” is predicted to be one of the hottest colors for Spring 2017. All according to WWD + The Pantone Color Institute, if you don’t believe me. With that being said, I knew this J.Crew Factory blazer would complete the outfit perfectly. Furthermore, it’s on sale for $79.99, with it’s original price being $168. Such a steal! I can’t wait to continue to style this throughout the season.

With there being no formula for last minute outfit changes, I knew I could be of some help with some guidance. First of all, mesh it all up! Start pairing pieces together to see how it looks. Usually, this is where I come up with my best outfits. It’s all about trial and error. Next, find a focal piece to direct your outfit around. Starting from the bottom up can give you a new perspective on styling. Switch it up! Finally, add some color. They say life begins at the end of your comfort zone, so let’s put an end to this winter weather as well! If you are feeling trendy, incorporate some mesh into your look. Guarantee you will love it. Happy Hump Day everyone!

Haha, Mr Potter certainly is spot on with that quote and just like you I’m trying to embrace what he said. I love the tip of adding some color for a quick fix and there are numerous times when I’ve planned something that didn’t at all turn out the way I thought they would. Thanks for helping me keep my cool in those situations!

Red looks so good on you! This look is so relaxed and comfy but the blazer makes it look more put together. I think this is the most relaxed and look I’ve seen on you so far!
