Going To Coachella In My Mind

Not going to lie, most of my weekend was spent lurking on social media. When is it not, really? #BloggerLife. The first week of Coachella has come and gone, and one of these years I’m actually going to make it there. I’m determined. With it becoming more of a fashion event than a three day concert (almost), I’ve been loving watching all the “street” style. It’s my thing. There’s something about being slightly over-the-top and different from our day-to-day outfits that I love about street style. It’s a place where you can let your creativity run wild. Plus, it’s a three day long music festival! It’s basically my kind of happy place. While the theatrics should remain only to the dedicated event (to keep the hype alive, of course), why shouldn’t we be allowed to alter it to our daily lives? Therefore, I have a couple tips to help make your Coachella outfits more ready to wear for everyday!

When you break down Coachella fashion, it’s basically a combination of boho and alternative styles. In that case, anything flowy, vintage inspired, edgy, colorful, or sheer. This year in particular got a bit revealing with the mesh bodysuits and bralette tops. Let’s just chalk it up as the year of the boobs. In addition, OTS tops were also a huge trend. Considering that they have been everywhere in retail, this was no surprise. When I saw this Free People romper, I knew that I needed to portray some sort of Coachella post. Since I didn’t/am not attending this year, I knew my my relevance was not of much use. But then I had an idea. Why not dedicate this to the people that can’t go! Now, let’s edit this a bit and turn it into a ready to wear style.

Obviously, the romper does most of the talking. The real key to festival dressing is the accessories. Anyone can rock this romper, but how you style it is what takes it to the next level. Personally, I have been loving this metallic shoe trend that’s been very popular in the retail world. I talked about it in my Spring Shoe Trends post, and was so excited to incorporate it into this look. I know booties and extravagant sandals would be the festival way to go, but I wanted to switch it up. Many people there decided to go for comfort and rocked some sneakers. Therefore, I decided to mix comfort with style, as well. Cue the ECCO sandals. I received them for Easter, and I’ve already worn them three times. I’m obsessed! ECCO always makes super comfortable shoes, but the metallic finish perfectly incorporates both festival and RTW (ready to wear) styles. If you are in the market for a comfy pair of metallic sandals, you will thank me later.

To follow suit with the metallic shoes, these Quay Australia sunnies did just the trick. The rounded lenses have been around the world in back with RTW, but the geometric design added a fun, festive twist. The rest of the accessories, are also very metallic. I thought this would be a great time to incorporate mixed metals into the look. Not only does it add a unique punch to the look, but it jazzes up the romper a bit. I didn’t go too wild with the layering, because I still wanted it to be suitable for everyday use. To bring in the popular backpack trend, this Zara mini crochet backpack added the perfect punch of Coachella to the look. Nothing says boho quite like crochet.

For the finishing touches, I pulled in the metallic makeup trends as well. People don’t understand how a metallic lip can be versatile and everyday appropriate, but I have found the perfect solution. To diffuse the metallic sheen of a metallic lip, layer it over a nude lipstick. I’m telling you, it makes your lips look so cool, but not totally crazy. If you don’t believe be, try it out! Last but not least, I had to throw in some braids and some waves. Are you really Coachella inspired, if you don’t? Now you’ll never have to feel left out for not being able to attend Coachella!

Thank you for dedicating a festival post for all of us that couldn’t go to Coachella and most probably won’t go to any other festival in the summer due to lack of time (darn fashion weeks for men, haha). I am actually sitting here thinking what on earth I would wear to Coachella, but I’m sure it’d be boho chic inspired and your look is a stunner!
