Whenever you have an issue figuring out what to wear, what’s your go-to? What is that one piece that will always go with your outfit, even when your inspiration is lacking? This is going to be a piece that can be easily dressed up or dressed down. There needs to be a variety of different styles and colors, so that everyone can be satisfied. In addition, it needs to always be on trend no matter the period of time or season. There’s only one thing that comes to mind and that’s denim.

Denim goes with everything and is a timeless fabric that everyone has. There are millions of different washes and styles that help suit everyone’s body type. Each season, new trends specifically dedicated to denim are researched and popularized. Therefore, denim is personally my favorite go-to that works every time. I love it so much, that I decided to just pile it on. I give you, the Canadian Tuxedo.

For those of you who don’t know, the Canadian Tuxedo consists of a denim jacket and jeans. Honestly, it’s just an extremely cool and chic way to look causal and dressed up at the same time. From the runway, to celebrities, the Canadian Tuxedo is here to stay.

The denim trends for this winter have been flared, patchwork, embroidery, fringed/ripped hems, high-waisted (aka mom jeans), overalls, and oversized. Every season, a list just like this is dedicated to just denim. I am obsessed with all them, but I have found specific pieces from some of these trends that I keep wearing on repeat. As a result, I’m focusing on patchwork, mom jeans, and ripped hems.

Let’s start off with this patchwork jacket from Macy’s, by the brand INC International Concepts. It was originally $119.50, but is now $41.99! Seriously a huge steal! Not only is it on trend with the patchwork elements, but it is also this moto-style silhouette that is so popular right now. Whether you rock it running errands and Christmas shopping, or a night out on the town, it’s clutch. It’s the perfect piece that will always come in clutch, no matter the occasion.

As for these mom jeans, they have been THE style of jeans for the year. I’m a huge fan of the the extremely high waist, because it sucks in all your food babies… mine is named cheese. Anyways, this specific pair is from ASOS and I’m pretty sure everyone is sick of me wearing these. I’ve been trying to be good and spreading out its appearances on CIC. I can’t get enough of these jeans, though! They fit so incredibly well and they are so comfortable. Honestly, I think they are the first pair of jeans where I feel comfortable without wearing a belt. I’m also considering ordering two more pairs of these… sorry not sorry. I’m obsessed!

To finish off the look, I wanted to let the tuxedo do the talking. Simultaneously, I wanted to incorporate more of this retro theme that the patchwork presents. This cabbie hat from Express, pulled in the perfect amount of retro-ness. Furthermore, this style of hat is an up-and-rising trend right now. To finish off the look, there needed to be a pop of metallic. What better shoe than these silver Topshop booties? I’ve been wearing these non-stop as well… All I’m going to say is you need these in your life. End of story.
