Blue Christmas | Denim Pieces You Can't Live Without

Not going to lie. I feel like a bit of a Grinch this holiday season. They weren’t kidding when they named this the busiest time of the year. I’m worn out! It doesn’t make it any easier working basically full-time at a mall. J.Crew is my life. Although, it sparked a bit of inspiration. Oddly enough, my man Elvis has been helping me out this season. He’s got me really thinking of what’s important in my life. What can I not live without this Christmas (or for ever for that matter)? You got it, it’s denim! When it comes to buying denim, I have no self control. Today, I’m taking those Christmas blues and rounding up my top denim pieces that you can’t live without!

Because I have a denim problem, I like to adjust my denim pieces by season. In the summer, I’m all about the lighter washed denim, cutoff shorts, statement jeans. As for the winter, sign me up for every kind of denim jacket, chambray shirt, and high-waisted jeans you can find. Winter is all about the layering, so I tend to go for simpler pieces. In the summer, the less is best. It’s too hot for all that layering! The statement has to be short, sweet, and straight to the point.

Lately, my go-to denim picks are from J.Crew + Madewell. If you don’t already know, Madewell and J.Crew are sister companies. Madewell is mainly known for their top notch denim pieces, and I think J.Crew is starting to piggy back off of their little sister. In fact, both J.Crew and Madewell have a denim jacket almost identical to this one! I got mine at J.Crew and it’s been my favorite jacket to wear with their weird, cold-ish weather. Not only do you have the ability to layer a bunch, but it keeps you super warm with just a graphic tee. If you have the chance, I 100% suggest you snag it (or any denim/shearling jacket for that matter). The shearling detail transitions the staple, denim jacket perfectly into the winter.

My brother, Ian, definitely likes the more universal route. While I’m decked out in J.Crew denim, Ian is repping an all Levi’s denim look. You can’t go wrong with Levis’s, and it’s a staple brand that everyone should have in their wardrobe. This year, the oversized-trucker jacket has been in popular demand. Ever since it came back, neither of us can put it down. It’s the easiest way to pull a look together, but in the most effortless way. Basically, denim will forever come in clutch.

The holiday’s are an exhausting time, but truly rewarding. With it being the season of giving, nothing feels better than getting someone I love a gift that truly makes them happy. What better way than to give them gift of denim. It’s truly the gift that keeps on giving. Plus, it’s the universal piece of clothing that everyone can wear, and that pairs well with everything! When in doubt, denim it out!

This post is so much fun because it’s showcasing both you and your brother’s unique denim style! I love all the different pieces you’ve layered together and how cohesive they look since they’re different washes and textures. Great Canadian tuxes!
