A Culotte Matata: Means No Worries

It’s the trend that never dies! Seriously though, culottes were extremely popular over the summer and they do not seem to want to leave just yet. I know what you are thinking, there’s no way I can rock these and they sure don’t come in clutch. You see, I was with you all this summer and then my world changed. No worries, I’ve got three tips for you today that will make you reconsider culottes as a staple rather than a fad.

Tip #1 : Hike Em’ Up!

I mean it! With Thanksgiving around the corner, there’s going to be a lot of football going on, so just go with it. Find a pair that you can really hike these bad boys up to your belly button with. I have to get mine taken in at the waist a bit, because I had to use a belt to keep mine up… If you want to avoid that problem all together, find a pair with an elastic or draw string waist band. This completely eliminated your alterations trip, plus it even adds a more chill and relaxed vibe to your look. With them hiked up, it allows for the length of the pant to fall at just the right height. This leaves me to my next tip…

Tip #2: Evaluate Their Length

If you are on the short and petite side like myself, this is going to be a game changer for you. There are two really good lengths for the bottoms of these culottes to hit your legs. The first spot it right underneath your knee. This was an extremely popular hem length over the summer. This is also a cute length for the cozy, casual culottes to wear around the house. To transition into the fall, the new flattering length is right at the thickest part of your calves. That sounds bad, but having powerful calves is the goal. The reason this helps is because, your leg gradually gets thinner the further down your leg. This helps elongate your legs with the flared silhouette.

Tip #3: Add Some Height Or No Height At All

When you are confused on what shoes to wear with this, you have two options. One, add a heel. This is ultimately going to make you look taller, which will help elongate your body. I mean, isn’t that what we’ve been trying to do this whole time? If your not a heels girl, the next best option is a flat shoe. The big tip with wearing flats, is to consider a shoe that does not go any further than your heel. The higher your shoe travels up your leg, the more it’s going to take away from your height. Therefore, I suggest to stray away from high-tops or booties with any culottes.

They seem like a piece that’s super comfy and perfect for wearing when you’re eating a bunch (like, ya know, that day next week that’s coming up hehe).
